Set Baseline Exposure
Adjusted Value
This calculator is for when you need to make manual adjustments to a good exposure to compensate for the subject you are shooting.
For example:
You're at a park for an event. All day long you have got great photos using an ISO of 200, shutter speed of 1/125, at F/8. There is a planned foot-race you want to shoot, and you know you will want to use a shutter speed of 1/00, the calculator will help you to determine the other settings.
First set the increments your camera uses for each setting: Full Stops, Full & Half Stops, or Full & Third Stops.
Next, input your current settings, and click the “Set Exposure” button.
This passes your current values to the “Adjustment” line and the “Adjusted Value” should include the text “Exposure Match” in green. Change your critical value, in this example the critical value is shutter speed. Changing the shutter speed to 1/1000 will show an “Adjusted Value” of -3 Stops. Now, adjust the F-Stop setting and/or ISO setting until the “Adjusted Value” displays “Exposure Match” again.
This next setting will allow you to freeze the action of the runners in the foot-race, while keeping the same exposure level.
